WEAVE INSTALLATION ON NATURAL HAIR: PRE- WEAVE PREP.

By Hadassah Agbaps - August 16, 2012

I'm at the salon getting a weave put in and as I see my hair being gradually covered up, I feel a sense of loss.
After letting my hair out for more than two months, rocking fros, twist ,braids and Bantu knots, I want to give my hair a break from me...
Two days before the D- day, I prepared my hair.

*DAY ONE
This day had me deep conditioning my hair with mayo mix.
I mixed 2tbs of Mayo, one egg, a cover full of olive oil, two drops of eucalyptus and peppermint essential oils and a big dollop of Organics Root Stimulator Replenishing conditioner.
I applied this mix from tips to roots to all 6 sections of my hair and loosely twisted. About an hour later, I rinsed off with lukewarm water, shampooed my scalp only with  Aussie Moist shampoo and reconditioned with the ORS condish. Moisturised with my growth mix and twisted to dry.

*DAY TWO
Retwisted and remoisturised with my growth mix. I only use the growth mix when I need to regrow my hairline after a bad hairstyle. I'm using this now to encourage hair growth while hair is safely under the weave.

*DAY THREE
Went to the salon to have my human hair weave installed.
It's important to purchase a good quality weave as it is less likely to rub your own hair the wrong way and it is not prickly when let down.
I packed travel size hair moisturiser, a spritz bottle with my diluted condish mix and my wide tooth comb into my salon bag.
It's wise to have your own salon bag containing your products especially if you are going to a salon that don't normally cater to natural hair.
Had my tracks and weaves installed as loose as possible  to avoid pulling at my roots.
And here's my weave pic...
....
EDIT....It's almost a week and I'm dying to hold my fro in my hands..... arrrggghhhh..... must think about something else.....

  1. Awe I think your hair looks wonderful. I know what you mean about not being able to hold your own hair. But just think, it's under there being safe :) I had a remy hair weave done a few months ago and I love it. Plus now with the cold coming, I think of the weave as protecting my hair. Thanks for the post!
