STYLE OF THE WEEK: OMBRE KINKY TWISTS ON NATURAL HAIR

By Hadassah Agbaps - July 01, 2014

Happy new month people!!!!
What's been on?

I got my hair done after..... I can't remember how many months.
That's the best part of being natural for me. I do not have to depend on extensions or weaves or wigs to look presentable.

I had to protect my hair and my pocket though because lately I've been splurging on new hair products thanks to my sister who just did the big chop. I had to assist her in putting together products for her hair type and being the shopaholic that she is and the junkie that I am, let's just say the product review posts are piling up.

My hair was beginning to complain so to let it rest, I decided to try out a hairstyle I've always been meaning to do.
Y'all know I recently dyed my hair ombre and for some reason, I want to ombre everything. It's a phase I'm sure.

I liked the ombre braids/twists done with Xpression braiding hair. I wondered what it would look like if done with kinky hair. At least there won't be blending issues and I can moisturie my hair without 'aging' my braids.

So I purchased two packs of two different coloured kinky hair ; Black (First Lady Kinky Extensions) and Color 30 ( Noble Kinky Braid).
Oh...I learnt that there's Kinky braiding hair with the ombre effect by ombretwist.com but since I don't have it, a gal's got to improvise....yeah?

So to get the look, the hair is twisted normally and the colored hair is added to the end. The ends are curled using bantu knots method and dipped in hot water.
Allow to dry. #shikena

Tip: If your hair is fine like mine, try square parts instead of circular parts to help out with volume instead of adding more kinky hair because this can weigh down and break your strands.
