FULANI INSPIRED NATURAL HAIR UPDO TUTORIAL

By Hadassah Agbaps - November 25, 2016

Hi people, what's been on?

I'm still on my Christmas growth challenge and one of the things I've been taking seriously is protective styling.
Since I style my hair myself and I have a lot on my plate, I usually prefer styles I can do in 30mins or less. Most times, it means I'm bunning.

On weekends especially Sundays, I try to do something different for church.
This time, I was inspired by  Nigerian Fulani cultural hair style. The Fulani nomads have influenced my hair care because they do not usually chemically process their natural hair. From them, I learnt how to use manshanu (cow butter) to deep condition my hair and how to gently cornrow natural hair. My hair has been happier for it.

For this style, I worked with an old twist out which helped stretch my hair. You can also stretch your hair with braids, twists, Bantu knots or threading.

PRODUCTS USED

-NappyGirl Growth Enhancing Oil on dry hair.
-Brazen Curls Avocado and Banana Moisture Masque as leave in.
- Clean water in a spray bottle.
- Ecostyler gel and Curls Passion Fruit Control Paste for edges and fly aways.
- Metal beads (do they have a special name?) for the back.
- Fingers for parting and detangling.
- Two bobby pins for the front.

Below is a little pictorial.

......and this is how it looked in front.

This style was super easy to do and my hair and ends were protected. I had it in for two days and then braided up the back and tucked it into the bun.
