SLEEKY SLICKY SIDE SWEPT KINKS

By Hadassah Agbaps - April 07, 2017

Hi people, what's been on?

So......my hair has been in a wash and go for weeks and it was getting frizzy....hello, Nigerian humidity.

I shared my method for getting the perfect wash n go and alternative products you could use to get similar results. I know this style encourages a lot of shrinkage. If you'd like to get more length, here is how I avoid shrinkage on my wash n go.

Wash n go is my current style staple because it is really low maintenance for me. It also lasts me as long as three weeks before it loses definition and frizz city.
The loss of definition also means bigger hair for me....which is a plus for my fine hair.

However, I had a meeting with conservative people and big, curly 'in- your- face' afro would not have been appropriate.
So, I decided to put my hair in a simple updo.
This style took me less than 20 mins to do....which is great for workday!

What I used

💮 3 bobby pins
💮 Ecostyler Crystal gel
💮 An elastic band
💮 A soft boar bristle brush
💮 NappyGirl Pudding
💮 Clean water in a spray bottle

Method

💮I sprayed clean water on my hair to make it soft and pliable. This is an important step if you want to make your natural hair manageable for styling.
💮Then I made a side part and sectioned off a little hair in the front. I used this section to make a side sweep like in the picture above.

💮 I mixed a little bit of Ecostyler gel and NappyGirl Pudding and applied it to my hair. Then using the soft bristle brush, I gathered all my hair (except the section for my side sweep) into a low pony tail.
💮 Then I used a bobby pin to tuck the ends of my pony tail towards the roots of the ponytail. I did this to keep my ends away from my neck.
💮 Then I pinned the section for my side sweep into the ponytail like you can see above.

💮 This is what it looked like behind:

.... and this is what it looked like in front....

💮 I loosely tied a satin around my head to tame fly aways and give the hair a polished look.

Would you believe that this updo lasted 4 days???

I tied a scarf around my head every night to preserve the style.
In the morning, I would spray a little NappyGirl Growth Enhancing Oil into my palms, rub together and pat gently into my hair.

Shikena! Easy peasy natural hair style!!!
